College Chefs was invited to attend the 2017 MJ Housing Forum this past weekend. The forum is put on by MJ Insurance -- the leader in sorority housing insurance and risk management. According to MJ’s website, “The Housing Forum is an opportunity to bring together both staff and volunteers of the women’s fraternal organizations to discuss the challenges and opportunities specific to sorority housing.”
College Chefs joined over a dozen other sponsors in participating in the conference. This is the 14th MJ Housing Forum although the first time that College Chefs was in attendance.
Jordan Wigton, the company’s Director of Sales & Marketing, along with Dave Tarrant (GM of Business Operations) and Chef Jared Bost (Director of Operations), gave a talk at the conference discussing some of the risks and pitfalls to avoid when hiring a food service company; in particular, to discuss the topics in the whitepaper that College Chefs released in January of 2017.
According to Jordan Wigton, “We wrote the whitepaper to offer some neutral advice on hiring a food service company and as part of our presentation we basically went through the key points. It's funny because it might not seem super exciting but it was actually fun to talk about this stuff with our audience."
Wigton continues, "I'm pretty confident that our presentation was eye-opening to our audience and it's all about helping chapters reduce their risk. Of course we think we're the best food service company out there and we're not shy about it, but we feel that the whitepaper gives those in charge some good advice to take into consideration for whichever food service company they choose. It's a big decision with potentially lasting implications."
"As far as the conference goes it was top notch and not surprisingly. The people at MJ have been great to get to know and have provided me invaluable insight into the industry that we're in--from their perspective....The conference was great and we can't wait until next year," Wigton concludes.
