“The Nicest Day in Chapel Hill” An All-Day Beach Festival
Chapel Hill, NC - April. 6th, 2015 – The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of North Carolina are pulling out the sandals and slapping on sun screen in preparation to their 33rd annual Slugfest event, being held on April 18th, at 207 W. Cameron Avenue in Chapel Hill. This all-day (around noon to midnight) event which features live music and volleyball action, is all in good spirit and fun while supporting a really great cause…and it’s on a beach...sort of!
SlugFest is an annual event held each April by the NC Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon on the university campus. According to the chapter's Philanthropy Chair Josh Campbell, "SlugFest is the premier spring semester philanthropic event hosted by a single Greek organization on campus. Originally started as a charity softball tournament between Greek organizations, the event has since morphed into an all-day beach music festival, generally open to the public, and has featured acts such as Hootie and the Blowfish and Dave Matthews”.
This year’s musical lineup features MTVU’s first ever College Artist of The Year “The Lonely Biscuits” and a five-piece acoustic-electric band called “Campfires And Constellations”. Along with some great tunes and inviting atmosphere, you can expect to chow down on really great food and sand between your toes.
In addition to raising money, the fraternity is receiving cash & in-kind donations from their food service provider & premier sponsor, College Chefs LLC; in addition to other, local sponsors including Mill House Properties, Four Corners, Toppers Pizza, and Campbell Productions.
